May the coming holiday of Shavuot bring peace and much happiness to all peoples of our beautiful world. And may we each offer to each other the love and care we all deserve as Gods children. Reply

The two questions that I missed it is because I truly did not know the responses. 8/10 makes me anyway happy. Yet, it is a lesson to hit the books again. What did Rabbi Eleazar did? Study that part of the Mishna where Bar Yochai is there! There were no distracting answers, it is me who did not know. Thank you Rabbi Posner for keeping me on my toes. Reply

Was Rashbi one of the 24.000 who died from the plague? Reply

Shaike Faifer May 4, 2026
in response to francis L kinney:

Great question. No, in fact he only became a student after the story with the plague. Reply

Eliezer Zalmanov for Chabad.org May 4, 2026
in response to francis L kinney:

Rabbi Shimon and four others reestablished Rabbi Akiva's legacy after the plague. Reply

francis L kinney Greenville May 4, 2026
in response to Shaike:

OK- I thought the end of the plague, and Rashbi's passing, happened at the same time, L'ab B'Omer.

thanks! Reply

Shaike Faifer May 6, 2026
in response to francis L kinney:

This is also correct! The end of the plague actually coincides with the passing of RaShBI several decades later, (which he declared to be a day of celebration.) Lag Be'Omer is in fact a double celebration! Reply

But it could everyone really be reestablished. Everything has its meaning. Reply
